The boys recently visited Palmerstown Library to explore and read some new books. The boys got to pick out a new book to read and were given time to relax and read in the library! The boys also got to take a library book back to school with them! Thank you to Palmerstown Library for having us!
The boys will be taking part in the Young Engineering Awards. Here, the boys must identify a problem in the local community and come up with solutions to fix it. There are many stages that the boys must complete such as developing and building a prototype for their ideas and present this to a real engineer who will be visiting the class!
This month in Literacy, we are looking at the comprehension strategy of visualisation. The boys used the school chromebooks to create what they could visualise while reading a story. The boys really enjoyed getting to use the chromebooks for their lesson!
Chess
We have started to learn how to play chess as part of our SPHE lessons. Through chess, the boys are learning key values such as patience, respect and how to deal with emotions that come along with winning and losing.
Each week, the class is introduced to a new chess piece and become familiar with the role of the piece in the game of chess. The boys have been really enjoying learning how to play!
3D Shapes
This week in Maths, we have been learning all about 3D Shapes. The boys explored the nets of 3D shapes, designing and building their own!
