Ms Herbert - Room 17
Welcome to Room 17. I want to take a moment to share how impressed I am with the children's progress and enthusiasm this year. It's been truly wonderful to watch them grow and develop in such a short space of time. From their curiosity in class to their kindness toward each other, they have shown remarkable teamwork. Each of them has shown unique strengths, and I couldn't be more proud of the progress they made. I look forward to watching them grow even more in the next term. Each photo brings back special memories of the different lessons we shared as a class, from class outings to music, art, literacy, numeracy and social skills to our exciting visit from Santa. The images are a wonderful reminder of how much they have already achieved and I hope you enjoy viewing them as much as we do.
January 2025
We used suckers to promote fine motor skills, hand and upper body strength as well as core strength during PE. Pulling suckers off a vertical surface also promotes upper body strength, balance, motor coordination, bilateral coordination, crossing the midline, sequencing, grasp, visual motor skills and fine motor manipulation. We also incorporated mathematical concepts of 2D shapes, matching in one-to one correspondence and classifying objects on the basis of attribute all while having lots of fun!
Through engaging and playful learning experiences we developed our understanding of capacity and weight by means of exploration and handling objects, while expanding our mathematical vocabulary. We used our light to table to provide a multi-sensory approach to understand the purpose of counting is to quantify. This activity promotes left to right directionality, spatial awareness, crossing the midline, pincer grip, odd & even number and pattern.
We enjoy a multi-sensory fun approach to develop our reading, aural and oral skills.
We enjoyed applying what we learned about weight and capacity when making playdough. We explored the different properties and characteristics of the ingredients as we added them and had great fun with the finished product.
We learned lots about the importance of healthy eating and exercise this month. We enjoyed looking at ways to help us grow big and strong. We then carved some fruit and vegetables and had fun creating colourful prints.
We had lots of fun learning and playing together this month!
