Welcome back to Room 17 for 2025/26!
We are excited to know everyone again after our summer break. We are having fun updating everyone on our new and old likes and dislikes. In art we are enjoying learning about Picasso and cubism.
We had a lovely Autumn walk and observed all the beautiful changes in nature.
We painted Kandinsky trees inspired by our Autumn walk.
We visited the library in Ballyfermot for a sensory morning.
We put in a lot of effort throughout the term and grew into a close-knit team.
We enjoy using a wide range of equipment and playing exciting games to make Physical Education fun and engaging for everyone.
We enjoyed celebrating Christmas with fun festive activities, creative crafts, and joyful songs that brought everyone together.
We studied the changes that winter brings, exploring how the weather becomes colder and how nature adapts during this season. We also learned about cold continents and regions such as the North and South Poles, discovering how animals and people survive in these icy environments.
We studied 3D shapes, learning to identify their faces, edges and vertices. We also explored how they move, investigating how shapes can roll, slide, and stack in different ways.
We enjoy developing our fine motor skills through fun and engaging games that strengthen our hand control and coordination alongside learning early mathematical concepts and literacy skills. We enjoy playing "Hook-a-Duck", using our sounds knowledge to match letters and words in an exciting and interactive way.
We learn place value and base ten through fun, hands-on-games that help us understand how numbers are built. These activities make learning interactive and help us grow in confidence when working with tens and ones.
With all the recent rainfall, we studied rain and explored the different types of rainfall, listening carefully to the sounds it makes and exploring how water moves and flows. We enjoyed creative art activities to support our learning.
We developed an awareness of money, its uses and value. We explored how coins behave in water, investigating whether they float or sink. We also enjoyed magnet play to support our learning, experimenting with how magnets attract and repel.
We celebrated Multicultural week with the involvement and hardwork of our very supportive parents and families.
We enjoyed exploring design and building with constructive toys.
