Check out our Owl-some owls! We used cupcake cases to make their eyes HUGE!

We read the mythical story 'The Children of Lir' for history. A myth is a traditional story that always includes magic. Aoife, the evil step mother turned the four children into swans. The boys created swans in art to depict the story.
Happy Halloween

As part of our Halloween celebrations, we carved a pumpkin. The boys named him X eyes!
We also created potions for turning a teacher into a toad. We thought of nouns, verbs and adjectives to help with the potion writing!

Look at our Halloween bats!

Big CONGRATULATIONS to the winners from our October assembly!!

November

We finished our read aloud book by David Walliams called 'Fing'. In the story, Fing loved to eat custard creams. The boys all got a custard cream to try after we finished the book!
We are so lucky to have Peter from St. Pat's GAA in our school every Friday for some GAA. We went out to Peter before Halloween break.
His team won their big final on Sunday. We made some flags to stick on our windows to cheer them on!

We did some experiments in our class for science week!
1. Dancing raisins
2. Lava lamps
3. Regular coke volcano.
This is the dancing raisins experiment. The bubbles from the fizzy water help the raisins dance at the top of the water!

This is the lava lamp experiment. You need water, food colouring, oil and the secret ingredient- a fizzy tablet.
Watch the video below to see what happens when the fizzy tablet is added!
This is the regular coke volcano experiment. Watch what happens when you drop a mentos into a bottle of regular coke!

We read a book called 'The Way Back Home' by Oliver Jeffers. It is about a boy and a martian who meet on the moon.

Scratch Art- Scraffiti
We created scraffiti for art. It involved colouring a page heavily with crayons. Next, we painted the whole page with black acrylic paint and waited for that to dry.
Finally, we scratched out the black paint using skewers, lollipop sticks and paintbrushes.

St. Brigid's Day 2022
St. Brigid's Day is on February 1st each year. It signals the first day of Spring. We read the story of how Brigid used a cloak and it spread over the land to make a church. The boys did weaving in art to make the cloak.

We wrote short comics to tell the story of 'The Way Back Home'.

Valentine's Day is on February 14th! The boys were very busy learning about the history of the day and also how Valentine's Day is celebrated around the world!!
