Reading Recovery
What is Reading Recovery?
Reading Recovery is an accredited school-based literacy intervention designed to reduce literacy problems.
Reading Recovery gives children who have particular difficulties in reading and writing, a period of intensive, individual teaching.
The intervention is not solely concerned with improving the reading and writing skills of the child but it also helps them to develop more effective literacy strategies.
Our school is fortunate to have a Reading Recovery Teacher that delivers this programme to a number of our pupils. Ms. McGeever delivers a short series of daily one-to-one lessons for 30 minutes. The intervention’s goal is to enable these pupils to catch up with their classroom peers and reach age-expected levels within 20 weeks.
